Annual Heritage

During Heritage Sunday services on
October 23, members and friends of the First Presbyterian Church, Wichita,
celebrated the history of the Presbyterian church.

October Family First Friday
Carter painted his pumpkin blue— and a
bit of himself—during the Family First Friday Chili Cook-Off and pumpkin
painting event on Oct. 3. A group of 45 people gathered for the food, fun and
fellowship.

Destination unknown
trip provides Youth with an experiential parable lesson
On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28, FPC
Youth traveled to the childhood farm of Youth Director Geri Doll. There her
brother Evan Yoder demonstrated how the weeds and the wheat grow together in a
special hands-on lesson on the Parable of the Weeds. The youth also took a
hayrack ride through a buffalo pasture and sampled home-grown popcorn, zucchini
muffins and fresh picked apples from the farm.

Kids Shine at Youth Sunday
On Sunday, August 24, FPC youth led the
entire worship service. Their musical and spiritual talents were shared with
the congregation in a service that encouraged everyone to see “The Picture of
Jesus”

2008 Youth Summer Trips

Painting occurs every 20 years but the disruption worth
the improvement.

Summer Fun!
Games Camp, held June 9-13 at the FPC Family
Camp, was a blast for counselors and participants alike. From left Jack,
Jackson and Dylan smile after getting cover in shaving cream.

A BIG thanks to
everyone who helped out at the FPC Camp Work Day
Thanks to everyone that participated
in the FPC Family Camp Work Day on April 26. Friends and members of the church
and the camp stayed busy for the entire day on various projects. At right, Sara
and Steve Wilkes replaced old screens on screen doors. Left, Kevin Rule and
Daniel Creacy cut boards for bunk beds.

Over 40 people
attended our first Family First Friday!
Thank you to everyone who attended our
first event.

Thanks for your
service to the homeless!
FPC youth packed peanut
butter and jelly sack lunches to distribute at the “overflow of the overflow”
shelter. The youth passed out the lunches after preparing and serving dinner to
the homeless last month. In addition to Geri Doll and the youth group, special
thanks also is extended to the Stephen Ministers, Roger Lyon and others for
their help and assistance in feeding the group of homeless at First Methodist
Church. A special thanks to Kristen and Steve Ivy for taking the lead on this
project, and finding groups to work.

The 4th
and 5th grade Sunday School Class learns how to build a church. Keep
your New Year’s Resolution and join one of our Children’s, Youth, Young Adult
or Adult Sunday
School Classes.
