Becoming a member of First
Presbyterian Church of Wichita, Kansas may be done in one of three ways:
1.
By Profession of Faith
If the new member has never been a member of a Christian church, they join the
church by answering affirmatively the following questions:
1.
Is
Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior?
2.
Do
you trust in Him?
3.
Will
you be His disciple, obeying His Word and showing His love?
4.
Will
you be a faithful member of this congregation, giving of yourself in every way
and will you seek the fellowship of the church wherever you may be?
If
the new member has not been baptized previously, baptism will be arranged.
2.
By Reaffirmation of Faith
If the new member has been a member of a Christian church but has not been
active in recent years, they join the church by reaffirming the vows for membership
listed under Profession of Faith.
3.
By Transfer of Letter
If the new member has been active in another Christian church, they join by
transferring their letter to First
Presbyterian Church of Wichita, Kansas. First they will be asked to reaffirm their
vows of membership listed under Profession of Faith, and then the day after
they join, the membership coordinator writes to their former church for a
letter of transfer.
