Active Member

Eligibility

55 or older OR special needs as approved by the Board.

Able to get into and out of our cars, with help. Be approved by the Board. (If we feel we cannot transport the person safely, we will not approve membership). Total active membership will be limited to the number for which good service can be provided. Service is provided within Wichita city limits or as approved by the Board.

Costs

$22.00 per year for members of First Presbyterian Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church.

$30.00 per year for all others. Also, $2.00 per destination.

Trip tickets for 20 rides are available for $40.00 paid in advance.

Vehicles

We use 4-door sedans, maintained by the Transportation Service. Occasionally another vehicle may be used.

Scheduling

The office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.—11:30 a.m. for scheduling of rides. Rides to doctors or dentists may be scheduled

2 weeks in advance. All other rides may be scheduled up to 1 week in advance. Appointments may not be scheduled on the same day the ride is needed. Appointments are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, with attempts made to meet each request. We request that you cancel with the office if service is not needed. Rides are limited to two round trips per week maximum.

Hours

Transportation hours are Monday through Friday with pick-up times between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

(no service on some holidays).

Volunteer Driver

Regular Driver

Drives specified morning or afternoon each week.

Substitute Driver

As much notice as possible for a morning or afternoon run.

(about once a month).

Hours

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (approximately)

Area Relief Driver

Single trips in own area using own car (one day notice).

Essentials

Must have a valid drivers license, be between the ages of 24 and 80, and have an interest in people.

Office Volunteer

Have some organizational skills. Duties are to answer phone, set up appointments for rides, keep accurate records of all calls, have a friendly voice and a caring spirit.

Scheduler

Works one morning a week, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m..

Substitute Scheduler

Fills in for regular scheduler, a day or more notice.

Patron Member

Realizes the importance of this service and wants to support it financially. $100.00 or more per year, tax deductible.

Sustaining Member

Desires to support the service financially with a gift, of any amount, tax deductible.

Donations

All donations are used for memberships for those who cannot pay for themselves, major maintenance on the vehicles and the replacement of vehicles when necessary.

This service has always been financially independent and does not receive funds from the church budget. The church permits us to use the services of the church secretary, financial secretary and the receptionist as needed. The church provides us with office space and reserved parking spaces for our vehicle in the church lot.
