FPC Family Camp Labyrinth |

|
After several years of discussion and planning, the Camp Program Committee built a labyrinth during the Camp Work Day on April 28, 2007. It is located near the Mims Meditation Area towards the northwest end of the camp. A circle 50 feet in diameter was cleared, leaving a beautiful tree in the center. Then 8.5 tons of sandstone was used to outline the pathways and truckloads of |
|
mulch were brought in to fill the circle. The committee is grateful to Roger Lyon who assumed leadership of the project. Special thanks also go to Bayley, Katie, Samantha, Jared, Seth, Ethan, Lexi and Maddie Without their “child labor” the project would have been MUCH more difficult to complete! |
|
Church members are invited to come out to the camp at any time to walk. Nestled in the beauty of the trees away from the distractions of everyday life, the labyrinth makes a perfect place to spend some “quality time” with God. As one four year old said, “If you want to get to know God better, take a walk with God.” |

Labyrinth FAQ's What is a labyrinth? The labyrinth is one of the oldest tools for prayer and meditation known to humankind. Today labyrinths are being reclaimed worldwide as a tool for growth and deepening on the spiritual journey.
Why would I walk a labyrinth? There are many possible reasons: perhaps to seek guidance with a decision, to clarify your thoughts and feelings about something, to honor a transition in your life, to release a memory or grief, to express gratitude, or just to spend some intentional time with God.
How do I do it? There is no single, correct way to walk a labyrinth. Unlike a maze that is designed to confuse you, a labyrinth is designed for you to find your way with no wrong turns or dead ends. The only choice you need to make is to enter the path.
How can I find out more? Brochures with more information about our labyrinth and how to use it are available on the bulletin board next to the Case Building elevator or by clicking here. |

A Labyrinth is . . .
A winding path the leads to a central space and then out again by the same path.
A wondrous pathway that may become a mirror for our own lives and metaphor for our spiritual journey.
A circle and a spiral, each a powerful and ancient symbol of unity, wholeness and transformation
A tool of spiritual growth, healing and transformation of heart, body, mind and spirit.
A spiritual discipline of setting one foot in front of the other and following a path.
A calling forth of our intuitive symbolic mind and creative meandering spirit.
A deeply healing container where we can touch our joys and sorrows.
The labyrinth is not a maze. Unlike a maze that is designed to confuse you and is full of dead ends and obstacles to overcome, a labyrinth is designed for you to find your way with no wrong turns or dead ends. |
